Dr. Oseni Taiwo Afisi

Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, Nigeria.

He was Head of Department of Philosophy, Lagos State University (2019-2021).

He is the current Director of Special Interventions of the Vice-Chancellors Office, Lagos State University.

He had his Bachelor’s and Masters degrees in Philosophy from University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, Nigeria.

He later proceeded to the University of Canterbury, New Zealand where he obtained a Ph.D. degree in Philosophy.

He was a visiting academic to the Australian National University, Canberra, ACT, Australia in 2011. His primary research interest is in Karl Popper’s Critical Rationalism. He has contextualised this interest  various areas in Philosophy, such as in Philosophy of Science, Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion and African Philosophy.

He got a grant from the Karl Popper Charitable Trust, United Kingdom in 2018 and another grant from UNESCO Abuja office in 2019 to organise the Karl Popper for Africa International Conference (28-31 March 2019) and the UNESCO (MOST) Syndicated Workshop (29-30 March 2019) respectively.

He has attended several conferences and has published widely in highly revered journals.
